NURSE MANAGER FOR PRIMARY CARE
I have always loved working for the military, and I now serve as a civilian Nurse Manager for Primary Care Clinic B, managing six employees and 60 contract employees. I was enlisted in the military for 20 years prior to working as a civilian. During those years I moved around quite a bit and spent much of my time overseas. After leaving the military I was contacted and asked to come back as a civilian worker, an opportunity I was quick to accept.
Even with all of the military years behind me, I've experienced the most growth at Portsmouth. It's a professional, challenging environment and there is so much to learn from the people that work here. I was given an amazing honor of Civilian of the Year for Portsmouth—a true testament that hard work is recognized.
A great day for me is when a patient or family comes into our facility and leaves with a better understanding of healthcare and the right information to make an informed decision.
