SPECIAL HIRING AUTHORITIES FOR VETERANS

Navy Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) supports veterans in continuing their honorable service to this country through civil service employment. There are special hiring authorities for veterans which allow NMCP to appoint eligible veterans without competition provided certain conditions are met.

In order for us to determine your eligibility, you must provide acceptable documentation of your preference or appointment eligibility. The member 4 copy of your DD214, "Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty," is preferable.

Disabled veterans should claim preference on their resume and provide the supporting documents as indicated in the attached SF-15 form.
